Located inside the Isle of Capri, Calypso is a small buffet with less than average food. The salad bar was bare with not many toppings to choose from. The ranch dressing was bland. The salads from the pasta salad bar had overpowering flavors (potato salad – too much mustard, cole slaw – too much mayo, tomato salad – too much basil). The crab salad was the best pick from that bar. The main bar’s fried chicken was really dry. Some pluses about the buffet is that they serve crab legs nightly, their sweet tea is great, and their desserts are pretty good (I had a chocolate and peanut butter cheesecake with vanilla ice cream). Their ice cream machine is a bit odd – it seems to aerate the ice cream. The price, at the current time, isn’t bad though ($11.00 for dinner); so if you’re thinking of trying this place, go now while they are offering this special rate.
