Grew up on Captain Tom's

The flounder is thick and moist, the oysters are big and the popcorn shrimp are large for their size. The scallops are not overcooked. The chicken is always broiled and always moist and flavorful. The steaks are juicy and tender. The batter used to fry the seafood is not overpowering or too thick. It definitely does not take away form the taste of the seafood. The restaurant makes their own ranch, thousand island dressing and bleu cheese- all are thick, creamy and wonderful. Especially the ranch. The iced tea is just the right amount of sweetness and is always fresh. The waitresses here are known to keep that tea flowing. You will NEVER have to ask for more tea. Most of all in my opinion is the excellent tartar sauce and cocktail – which are also homemade by the the restaurant. The tartar sauce is out of this world and the cocktail sauce has just the right amount of horseradish that gives it a tiny bite.

This dish as the name implies has it all: flounder (ask for black side- you won’t regret it),popcorn shrimp, oysters, deviled crab. It comes with or without the scallops. Why miss out on the scallops? Huge portions along with yummy hushpuppies that are golden brown and never too oily. The dish comes with choice of baked potato or french fries and the yummy slaw. People come in to buy their slaw by the gallons for fundraisers and the like (for hotdogs). Don’t miss out on the slaw. But beware: their is enough food on this plate for 2 people. I had to take more than half in a to-go box. I ate 3 meals off this 1 plate. Heats up well.

GREAT VALUE AND TASTE

The food is great at Captain Tom's. While this restaurant is not upscale enough to be attached to a Hilton Hotel, it has other important charms on many other levels. When I visit, I get the hidden delight--Tom's steak. I have never been…
