Not rather rich, VERY rich

This ice cream is very very rich. “Rather” is an understatement. There are tons of flavors but it seems like most of them are just variations of the same base flavors. For example, pretty much all the chocolates are the same base chocolate but with different additional ingredients (brownies, fudge, etc.) The only problem is that I felt like I ate too much afterwards since it’s pretty heavy.

Fantastic chocolate flavor and brownie chunks. I love chocolate and I love brownie. Rich blissness.

who wants ice cream???

i do! i do! located on the side of a plaza, rick’s is easy to miss as it’s a very small ice cream parlor. but it does offer oodles of fun flavors (all made on the premises). the ice cream is creamy, rich, and absolutely delicious. i’d definitely return to rick’s for some sweet indulgence.

as a fan of Ben & Jerry’s Cherry Garcia, i thought i couldn’t go wrong with choco cherry…and luckily, i was right. this was much better than cherry garcia actually — creamier, fuller, and i can only assume fattier. a 5-star winner.

That is rather rich ice cream

Like Cliff said, this place is small, but the ice cream is great. It’s thick, rich and creamy. I got the double cone which was actually way too big. I’d recommend going with the double mini. Nothing like a nice evening of eating rich ice cream while standing in the parking lot :)

What I ate:

That was too much ice cream :)

  • ***

    Complements heavier flavors wonderfully

  • ***

Mmmm, chocolate ice cream, orange, and chocolate chips – sweet

For pure ice cream, this is the best

If you like crazy sundaes with cool toppings, or all sorts of neat dips, ice cream cakes etc. there are other, better places for that (try some of the really crazy sundaes at Fenton’s in Oakland, or even Mitchell’s Ice Cream…even Ghiradellhi Square).

But, for the best PURE ice cream (no frills, in a cup or cone), Rick’s Rather Rich is number one…the best I’ve ever had anywhere. Like any place worth your while, they make the ice cream themselves right there, and all the flavors are good.

But the best? Swiss Mocha. Holy cow. Talk about getting a chocolate/coffee fix.

The place is small, with no real place to sit, and it’s a bit hard to find, but trust me, it’s worth the effort.
