Not at all Impressed

The food menu is relatively limited (roughly 5 apps, 4 salads, 1 soup, 5 entrees); thankfully, the wine list was a bit more extensive. Service was iffy. We ordered 2 apps and I believe the server, upon arriving at our table, said “Who wants what?” I don’t go out and drop $115 on dinner for two to get that kind of service.

Another grievance was with the disproportionate size of the apps and entrees. I had the scallop app, which consisted of 3 sea scallops on a nicely decorated plate; my fiance had a salad that consisted of a large pile of romaine thrown onto a plate with sliced tomatoes and cucumbers on either side. For the entree, I ordered the trout; the plate consisted of a small 3 in x 3 in serving of fish surrounded by a pool of bamboo shoots and cilantro. My fiance had the pasta topped with calamari; the serving was so massive, no human being could have possibly finished this dish in one sitting.

Long story short, the food was OK (I give it a 5.5 out of 10), the service was marginal, the atmosphere was rather dull. If you want a good seafood meal in New Orleans, head straight for Rio Mar (800 S. Peters), I’ve never been disappointed. .
