Amber India Restaurant combines excellent food...
Amber India Restaurant combines excellent food with a clean, trendy atmosphere. My wife have been here on two occasions, and were extremely satisfied both times.
One thing that sets Amber apart from other Indian restaurants in the area is the combination of traditional and contemporary cuisine. And they excel at both. You can have a traditional tandoori item, and pair it with a unique and well-presented dish you won’t find anywhere else. Top it off with a signature martini, such as the Pink Elephant (which contains lychee fruits; a refreshing flavor that balances out the spices in the food).
We started with the Aloo Peas Samosa, which are small but very tasty. The green sauce has a nice fresh kick to it. We shared the Murg Rizaala, which is a chicken curry with yogurt, the Roasted Paneer and Spiced Veggies from the contemporary menu, and the Manglorean Shrimp Curry. I highly recommend all three dishes.
Amber is definitely one of my favorite Indian restaurants in the area.
Upscale indian dining
This is a great indian restaurant for a special occaision or if you’re looking for some exceptionally tasty fare that can’t be found at your typical indian haunt.
The area is trendy and the prices are reflective of that fact. It’s best to make reservations, perhaps after a day of shopping or a manicure on Santana Row, since this place is usually very crowded.
The service is good and there is plenty of space between tables so that you don’t feel cramped even when the place is packed.

-
Butter Chicken
This dish is awesome. It’d go back just to try it again. Tender chicken pieces packed full of flavor.
-
Pan Fried Eggplant Steak
This is a unique dish that I have not seen elsewhere. It’s quite good and I highly recommend you try it if you haven’t already.
-
Lahori Seekh Kebab
Good dish, but ground lamb isn’t my favorite as it tends to be a tad dry sometimes.

Indian food at its sophisticated finest
One never has any problems finding indian food in the bay area. If you’re looking for a place that has a nice atmosphere and high quality food, then Amber is the place to go.
If you’re looking for something more casual and cheaper, I’d recommend Grand Indian Buffet. Amber is a good date place or a place you’d eat at before going out for a night on the town.
My only gripe about the Amber on Santana Row — vs the other one in Mountain View — is that it costs a bit more (granted the place IS nicer.. i mean check out the sinks in the bathrooms).
