Did anyone see buffet above the door?
Where to start, Service was outstanding, knowledgeable, friendly and… honest (wow). The wine list goes on for days, but don’t even bother opening it. Just trust your server and the chef to pair up something (or two or three) wonderful with your meal.
If you don’t leave full you must have not ordered enough. The entrees were more then filling and I’m sure, if we had asked, the server would have steered us to the proper selection based on our hunger needs.
Also if your starving to death I’m sure they would serve you all the bread you want. It’s so good I was tempted to make a meal of it. I think our server said it was from Mario’s Bakery. Does he deliver to my house?
If you came here looking for some sort of standard fare, you won’t find it. All of our food was outstanding, nothing was covered with heavy sauces or over seasoned. What a nice change, to find a place that just makes simple amazing food.
We will be back many times!
On a side note. Who tips 18% anymore? With this level of service my friends and I start at 20% and go up. If you enjoyed the service and were too cowardly to complain about food you didn’t enjoy that’s your own fault and should not be taken out on the service you said you enjoyed. Who tips less then 15% on service they liked? Poor form.

Fried Avocado
Our server told us this was the only item on the menu that had stayed since they opened two years ago. That’s pretty impressive and tells me if if you don’t like it, it must just be YOU! I saw at least 8 more of these towering art pieces served while we were there. My quick math; 2 years = 730 days x 8 = 5840 Avocados! They gotta be getting some kick backs from the Avocado Board by now.

New York Steak
Dry Aged! And not covered in Johnny’s! Of course I ordered it midrare (is there any other way?) and it was perfectly done. And who knew you didn’t need to add salt and pepper yourself. The kitchen seasoned it perfectly!
-
Flank Steak
Yes, I know I was a bit disappointed that it was only available medium, but my server insisted it was only to make it the best it could be. He shocked us by telling us about someone who actually wanted to ruin it well done! And they are serious about that temp it’s medium or nothing. LOVE this place! So we “suffered” with it medium and boy were they right on! The rub only accents this aged piece of meats flavor. Where’s the A1, just kidding…
-
Pea Salad
Okay I’m a bit biased, my momma used to make this every summer. Sorry momma, this was WAY better! The balance of texture and flavors is amazing! Our server told us to get this while we could as it won’t be there for much longer.
-
Sea Scallops
I think they made a mistake and served us someone else’s scallops. There was no way these baseball size beauties were for us.
-
Cheese Platter
For dessert don’t miss out on the fabulous cheese offering. Make sure if Nic’s available you get him to tell you all about them! He even went to Canada recently to pick up some of our selection, now that’s dedication. Don’t worry he doesn’t offer the standard grocery store cheeses and would probably be quite offended if you asked for something that low quality.

A beauty in the market
The 94 Stewart Restaurant replaced a long-in-the-tooth “Garlic Tree”. It’s a huge improvement! Some of the nice features left from the 60’s are still in place – the black and white linoleum and ceramic tiles give a feeling of permanence. The nice fabric hangings add a feeling of intimacy and dampen the sound, so conversation stays cozy.
The standout attribute of this restaurant is the attentive, friendly, highly capable service. The wine was a good value – the $8 glass was really good, made me think it might be worth trying the $12 glass. If the food were a little more balanced, this would be a five-star pick. The menu is populated with cheesy, buttery fare. I think even the salads may have included deep-fried cheese. The dishes were well-prepared, tasty and generous – I can only take so much fat in one sitting, though.
-
Mushroom Gratin
The mushrooms were lovely and the vegetables were fresh, though cut surprisingly large. The gratin sauce was good, but there was enough for three plates, and I’m a big eater.
-
Fried Avocado
Enough of a treat to justify the price, though I was left wondering if they could find a way to get the same effect without adding oil. The salsa and crab were delectable.
