I just want everyone to know how gross Champp’s really is. They try to portray themselves as an “upscale” sports bar , but let me tell you what, I have worked at greasy spoon diners that are cleaner than they are. Let’s start in the kitchen. Their is mold in the ice machine, so everytime you get a drink with ice you are taking a major health risk. Anyone who knows anything about mold that can grow in below freezing temps should know that this type of mold is highly dangerous to the health of any human being who may ingest or inhale it. The cieling leaks so bad that there is black mold in the drop cieling tiles, the water drips out of the cieling and onto the floor and splashes onto the tortilla chips and potato chips that are stored nearby, a critical health code violation. So you might want to steer clear of their chips. The drains in the dish area are so clogged that there is standing water on the floor that smells like sewage, a critical health code violation. The tile grout is completly gone, a great place for bacteria to breed and bugs and mice to find food. By the way there are mice there, I have seen them. The cook’s line is a mess, the guys that work back their have no sense of cleanliness and you would be hard pressed to find a bucket of sanitizer solution anywhere, a critical health code violation. The refridgeration has gone down several times on the line in the last 2 years and the general manager will let it go for a week or more so that he can get his bonus, at the expense of public health. The cooks don’t were gloves and they hardly wash their hands. If you were to go and check the paper towel and soap dispensers you would find empty ones, a critical health code violation. There has not been a line check, were managers check food for temperature and freshness on a daily basis, done in over a year. Have any of you seen “Waiting”? If you have then you are familiar with “the game”. Let me tell you that “the game” is played regularly in the kitchen with hand to genital contact and no hand washing afterwards, watch out for the pubes in your quesadillas.
Let’s move on to the dining room/bar. The cieling leaks there too. Right onto a table were the seat customers. I am sure that the mold present in the kitchen cieling is also present in the dining room, hope it doesn’t drip into your food. Ther is an odor at the bar . If you have been their you know what I mean they have actually recieved multiple e-mail complaints about this. Again, management would rather make a bonus than make sure their guests health is not being comprimised. Their is mold in the keg refridgerator and I can only imagine the shape of the lines that deliver the beer from said fridge to your pint glass. The smell is caused by the inside of the bar being rotted, it smells like sewage and is not a great place to sit and have a beer, unless you enjoy hanging out at the water treatment plant.
In conclusion, Champp’s is a restaurant that can be and should be shut down by the local health department. It is only a matter of time before someone gets sick or even dies from the practices that go on their. Food safety is serious business and if you can’t hold up your end of the deal as a public establishment then you shouldn’t be in business. People go out to retaurants and trus that their food and drink is safe from pathogens and contamination, Champp’s is violating this trust on a daily basis. So do your family and friends a favor and send this to them so rhat they know that everytime they go to Champp’s they are leaving their health and the health of their family in the hands of a restaurant that is run by management that values their bonus that they get for not spending money on normal routine maintenance over the health of the people that pay their bills.
