Great gourmet pizza
If you want authentic pizza, Dominos and Pizza Hut aren’t going to cut it. So then it comes down to an upgraded regular pizza, thin crust or deep dish. Cheeseboard offers thin crust pizza. The cheese here is of the best quality and comes from next door where you can buy the cheese on its own.
There’s only one type of pizza and it changes everyday. Depending which kind of pizza you get, I guess the experience can be a yay or a nay.
My one complaint? Price. Thin crust pizza to me is the biggest ripoff in the world. Considering deep dish can run for the same price, I’m obviously getting 3 times more volume with deep dish. $18 for a thin crust pizza seems a tad pricey.
The eating experience can be a fun one. A live band is present at times, and if it’s too crowded indoors, plenty of people flock to the median where you can watch traffic from Shattuck Ave. flow around you. Apparently there are signs telling you not to do so, but hey, I’ve always seen people on the grass when I drive by.
If you want fake cheese, go with Pizza Hut. If you want greasy, stick to Blondies or Fat Slice. If you want disgusting, go with Dominos. If you want to stuff yourself, go with deep dish. If you want light yet flavorful pizza, and on top of that a fun experience, go with Cheeseboard.

Oh Cheeseboard, let me count the ways...
in which I do love you. Who would have thought a pizza place serving only one type of pizza a day (vegetarian at that) at somewhat odd hours would work? Perhaps it works only because it’s Berkeley and all sorts of crazy things work in berkeley.
Now that I’m in the south bay, I find myself longing for those days when I could just zip over to cheeseboard for a slice of that day’s pizza. Their pizza is not your standard Little Caesars/Dominos/Pizza Hut type pizza. It’s an artisan type pizza where it’s just layered with possibly strange seeming ingredients that somehow work well together.
Anytime I know someone who’s going back up to berkeley, I ask them to bring me back a half baked pizza so I can finish baking it in my oven and devouring the wonderfulness that is cheeseboard.

I love the Cheeseboard pizza. Unfortunately, I think there’s only been a handful times that I’ve successfully had it since the hours are odd and they run out pretty fast. The other thing to be wary of is how oily the pizza can get from all the cheese. You’ve been warned!

its good...but
while i completely agree with all the reviewers above me i just have to say that if you don’t like cheese THAT much like me…then you will obviously not like cheeseboard’s pizza that much.
It’s still miles better than most pizza around…but i had to drink a lot of water to get thru the cheese…

Pizza of Awesomeness
Gourmet pizzas made with fresh, flavorful ingredients. I only wish I had more time with them… unfortunately, my days at Berkeley were too short. I like Cheeseboard even better than Zachary’s (but then, I’ve never been a huge fan of the thick crust). Also, only having one flavor of pizza a day makes it easy to pick what you want. ☺
In case you want to check out what flavor of the day is before you go:

Best thin crust pizza ever – always fresh and perfectly crusty. They only do vegetarian toppings, and only one type each day until sold out. I left Berkeley 4 years ago, but I still dream of the pizzas here. Join the line, get yourself a couple of slices, find a shady spot on the grassy road median, and enjoy this little piece of heaven… Mmmm!

gourmet pizza in the gourmet ghetto
like previous reviewers have stated, the pizza here is damn good. it’s fresh (and amazingly) made with few ingredients. whether or not it’s worth the wait is debatable to me. just watch out, the hours are weird (i’ve driven by more than a few times only to find it closed) and they only offer 1 pizza per day.

Amen!
I just wanted to chime in and say, yes, absolutely, so true, Cheeseboard is delicious. I would’ve waited in a line that stretched to Nevada for this pizza. Thanks for the recommendation, guys!
Dishes I tried:
Pizza of the Day
I got the pizza with potato, onion, mozzarella, feta, cilantro, and lime. If you’re lucky enough to get this pizza? Consider yourself blessed.
