i walked into chicago chop house expecting to be wowed by their enormous, juicy steaks and mesmorized by a unique chicago experience. maybe my expectations were too high, but overall, i didn’t leave feeling there was anything special/different about chicago chop house from any of the high-end chain steakhouses out there like morton’s and ruth chris. my steak was average and the service was alright. my fiance ordered what was supposed to be some monsterous, ungodly amt of steak, but most of it was actually bone, and he was still hungry afterwards. most likely, i won’t be returning to chicago chop house unless guests come into town wanting to give it a try.

Recently went here with friends who love steak. Walked up to the front door, where they knew that we were walking in so they opened the door for us. They greeted us warmly and led us to our table right away. Very friendly staff. They also had coat check so that was a plus. Ambiance was pretty good. Not too loud, lighting was just right. The servers really pay attention to you. Water refills was no problem. Server was very accomodating to our needs.

As far as the steak, each of us had a steak. One had filet mignon, another had another 32 oz steak [i forget which one he ordered] and I got a 12 oz. NY strip. The steaks were very very tender and quite tasty. Mine was ordered medium, and it came out medium. It was great. Mashed potatoes, though, were a little too salty for my taste.

Didn’t have room for dessert, so ordered plain coffee. Nothing special about it, but I like to end every meal w/ coffee.

Ended up w/ half my steak in a doggie bag. That steak was huge. Bring an appetite if you end up coming here.

I would recommend this place to friends. Enjoy!

Went there last night with some friends from out of town, The waitress was very rude and overbearing. There were ten of us and the following occured:
3 steaks ordered with crab meat and bernaise sauce arrive with cold crab and sauce. When we asked for them to be heated we were tiold that the sauce is supposed to be cold. When we still asked for them to be heated we were acutally told by our waitress, Blanch, that heating them would ruin the sauce. Not accepting this as an answer we finally made her take them back to be reheated. When they arrived we had no idea whose steak was whose.
1 steak was totally overdone and when we complaned the waitress, Blanch, actually had the nerve to tell us that it was not overdone. This must occur often because she actually had a flahlight to check the steak.
The other steaks were not very hot when they arrived either but those 4 were ok to eat.
I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone. Not with all of the other quality steak houses in town.
