Hidden Gem of Staten Island

The interior of the place you just GOTTA see for yourself…I can tell you only so much but you really have to come and take in the aura. The food is delicious, fresh, and diet friendly!!! AND POCKET FRIENDLY!! you can come by yourself or with everyone you know!!! they will serve one just as kind and important as a large group. The bar is awesome you can order just about anything you can think of..The kids love it, your romantic date would love it…its just an experience..this is the type of place you wish someone would of told you about earlier!!!

Dishes I tried:

Chicken Shish Kebab

I had a choice of whether I wanted mashed potatoes, rice, veggies, or french fries as a side for the shish kebab. The meat was very tender and flavor full. The plate came tastefully decorated with seasoning and marinated peppers. I also have to mention that the shish kebab sauce is out of this world, honestly!

No Middle Eastern Promises Here

The website of Chinar is terribly misleading. The only thing Mediteranean is the hummus served without pita bread and a belly dancer who’s appearance was very brief for a Saturday night. This place should be advertised as an Eastern European smoker’s paradise. The one star is for decor which is compensating for the slow service and unimpressive food. Main entrees are kabobs and fish choices head & eyes included. Limited availability on many of the choices listed on the menu. Although prices are relatively fair, there is a charge for the “mandatory” coat check when you walk in. Right by the smoky vestibule. Check in your coat or get a scowl from the little man in the booth. The $2 sign must be left over from the building’s Scarlet’s days (originally a strip club on Staten Island)
If you’re looking for what is on the website you won’t find it here. Definitely would NOT patron this place again.
