5.0What a delicious meal! If only it were less expensive I would go back more often!!
We started our meal with one of their cocktails, which were fairly priced and well prepared. Then, we started our meal.
There were 2 tastes from the chef to start – a mushroom fritter and a taste of a fried shallot. We selected the 6 course tasting menu for $105/person (plus a $30 supplement for the special beef on one of the tastings). The breads – Guinness Rye, Country Bread and Bacon Cheese-were accompanied by both sweet and salty butter.
We began with the Hamachi Apetizer on a rice cake. This was followed by a sauteed soft shell crab on a corn chowder with bacon in it. Both were prepared very well and were not overwhelmed by the sauces.
The entrees included a sea bass which was tender and flavorfull served with pototoes and squash. Next, I had the lamb which was served on a bed of couscous with a spicy merguez sausage added to it. Delicious!! My hubby had the miyacaki waygu beef which was so tender and rare – a fantastic treat! Plus ther fresh box of hot mini dinner rolls were melt in your mouth delicious!
Next the cheese course – a cart where you can select 5 cheeses which are served with accompanying bread, fruit and nuts. (They substituted a green salad for the non-cheese eater). To cleanse our palate – a sake snocone! A sake flavored granita with strawberry syrup. We could have eaten a whole bowl of it!
Now to dessert… with our meal came the peaches and cream – the description does not do it justice. Fresh peaches, craime fraiche ice cream, graham cracker crust, gingsen chiboust. Ready to burst they then brought little mini coffee cakes to accompany our coffees – warm with a lovely orange/cardamom taste.
But wait, there’s still more! To end, little raspberry jellies, mini cinnamon sugar macaroons and a dense chocolate bite. I feel like I am running out of superlatives!
As if all this food isn’t wonderful enough, the service was incredibly attentive and gracious. The pace of the meal was just right- with tasting menus you sometimes feel like the meal is dragging on – they kept it moving but let you savor each course.
The environment was just right – not too stuffy and not too noisy. All in all, a fantastic experience. If you are looking to celebrate a special event (or want to splurge on an amazing meal!) this is the place.
