3.0The inside of Cuatro is much nicer than the neighborhood around it. Located down hear 20th and Wabash, there’s not much else around it but that makes it all the easier to find street parking at night (they also have valet for $10).
The inside is dressed in a very modern style with a mix of tables and booth-type seating with nice cushions. The blue and orange colors reminded me of Menuism’s colors :)
I believe they have live music here sometimes so be sure to call and check the schedules if that’s what interests you.
The dishes were a moderate size – not stuffing big and not painfully small. It’s definitely a nice option for dependable Latin American fare in the South Loop, but I wouldn’t make it a habit since the prices aren’t that cheap.
The same fattiness that made the beef rib meat wonderfully tender and juicy also made it taste a little…how do you say? fatty. definitely nicely done meat though.

3.0if you’re looking for a nice place to eat in the south loop, consider cuatro. it’s nuevo latino food in a modern (almost minimalistic) design, dim-lit ambience.
this is a good place to fine-dine w/friends for a night out or for an intimate date – it seems to work for both occassions. (not so much a family fare place).
i felt the food preparation is on the heavier side (i.e. more butter, cream, fatty good stuff), and maybe that’s part of this type of cuisine…i’m not sure. in any case, the food tastes delicious and is different. the only thing holding me back from returning more frequently is the price – it’s expensive.
you get 2 pieces. packed w/flavorful pulled meat, sitting in a plate of sweet red sauce. i recommend these.
an interesting stuffed fish dish – the trout was cooked just right, and the bobo rock shrimp was fun to eat. my only miff – a little too buttery/heavy.

3.0I live in the South Loop, so Cuatro is always a quick and easy option for me. The pork chop entree with a chocolate mole never disappoints, but if I’m looking for something lighter, the pinchos de pollo is a good — and much cheaper — alternative. Watch out though, it’s fire hot! The empanadas and the ceviche on the appetizer menu are great, but my absolute favorite are the plantain fries — only available on the late night menu.
I’ve had this before where the rice was rather stale, but overall, this dish never disappoints. It’s fire hot!
