solid & cheap sandwiches

if it’s any indication, the summer after my freshman year, i grabbed lunch here almost everyday to the point where the deli guy recognized me as a regular.

it’s so~ dirt cheap and delicious that you’ll be hard pressed to find such an amazing deal elsewhere near campus.

the sandwich selection is more than sufficient, and the deli window also offers a wide variety of your typical deli type foods – i.e. pasta salads, falafel balls, fresh fruits, etc.

i always loved grabbing lunch at cheese ‘n stuff and walking back to campus (there’s no designated area to eat at cheese ’n stuff) to eat on sproul & people watch. ~sigh…brings back fond memories…

Savings & Loan

Cheese & Stuff might as well change their name to Savings & Load because they help put college kids through school. They do this because their food is so awesome yet so cheap! I don’t think I could’ve paid for school had it not been for this place.

Location in a prime location (especially if you’re a Unit 3 freshman (hahahahhaha.. sorry kids I had to laugh)), you may never know if it since it’s in an alley.

But words get around fast about this place. There are long lines during the busy lunch hour but they move fast, quick and efficiently.

Turkey with cranberry sauce and avocados!! You can’t ask for anything more. I have yet to find another place that does it as well as they do.

ridiculously cheap and tasty sandwiches

I finally went here and it wasn’t disappointing. The sandwiches they offer are very delicious, and of sufficient size. You can choose the type of bread you want, and I got some sweet French bread thing, and it was good. All the sandwiches were dirt cheap, with sandwiches ranging between 2-4 dollar range. That is absolutely ridiculous when considering the tastiness of the sandwich. It is enough to fill most people, unless you eat a lot. The sandwiches are also prepared speedily, so a long line isn’t so bad. The only downside is there are no tables to sit down, though that isn’t really a problem considering it is a deli type place.

To make the place even better, I was wearing my Cal jacket, and they gave me a discount!!! My sandwich, which was normally $3.50, only cost $3.00. I am not sure if this is because it is the week before the big game against stanford, or if they always do it, but that was pretty freaking awesome.

The sandwiches overall probably range between 4-5 stars, but the restaurant gets a 5 star rating because it is so damn cheap.

Can’t always taste the crab (which is probably fake), but it still tastes great.

Also delicious, and I might actually like it better than the crab one.

Nice and simple

This is a stand-up sandwich shop of the first order. There aren’t too many fancy parts about Sam’s shop, but know that you’re getting top quality sandwiches at a bargain basement price.

That Turkey Delight is probably my favorite sandwich in the world since I do love sandwiches. Fresh, pulled roast turkey, count me in! None of that Butterball compressed turkey b.s.. Just wholesome goodness, Thanksgiving on a bun. Yum, yum, yum, let me get some!

This is one of the finalists on my Last Meal Before I Die list. ’nuff said.
