Home of the quintessential Chicago Hot Dog. Famous for their rich chocolate cake. And, recently, in a move that brings joys to personal trainers across Naperville looking for more business, the Cake Shake.
There’s no service. You walk in, you order, you move to the next counter. You pick up your food—and if you’re feeling particularly antisocial, you pick up someone else’s too, and earn yourself a free shake, burger, or salad for your thirty seconds as a common criminal—.
But the food, the food is tasty. The food is good. Portillo’s plain hot dogs are under two dollars and come with all the toppings of a true Chicago style Hot Dog.
In my dreams when I imagine delicious picnic food, I think of Portillo’s hot dogs.
