good happy hour, even better view!

the happy hour food (a great value at $4!) would probably have earned this place a 4-star review, but throw in fantastic service (even during a really busy time) and a phenomenal view… 5-stars for the overall experience. no question :)

happy hour is in the six-seven bar/lounge area, sunday thru thursday, 3-6pm. on a nice day, there are even outdoor seats, where you’d feel even more like you are on a boat! but w/o the seasickness :)

What I ate:

    ****

a great burger, accompanied by great garlic fries. one thing i noticed (and i liked, but i’m not sure if it’s everyone’s “thing”) is that the bun was pretty sweet.

i’m always a fan of yummy calamari, but nothing stood out in particular about the calamari here.

the fish pieces were thick and juicy and the french fries were crispy and garlic-ly flavorful.

waterfront beauty, a Seattle must

I came here for the 25 for $25 for dinner on a Sunday. The restaurant is beautiful. The Edgewater Inn is down on one of the piers and overlooks the Sound. It is a must try at least once – the hotel is famous because the Beatles stayed here back in ‘66 when they visited Seattle.

The restaurant was impressive. A beautiful dining area – simple yet elegant. The most beautiful part was the view of the water, especially at sunset. We came on a perfect evening to see it.

Service was extremely good – you will be treated very well. And the food was equally delicious. The portion size was just right so you come out full but not stuffed. Everything was high quality – if you can make it here for the 25 for $25 I would recommend as you definetely get your bang for your buck!

Extensive wine list as well – and the cocktails were awesome!

What I ate:
  • *****

Delicious spinach salad with crumbled goat cheese, candied walnuts and pollenta.

  • *****

Extremely delicate – no fishy taste at all. This is halibut at it’s best!

  • *****

A refreshing dessert – beautifully decorated. Creamy sorbet-ish dish.

  • *****

Perfect! Obviously a high quality cocktail – and on the waiter’s recommendation.

Enjoy the View - Ignore the Service

This is an upscale hotel restaurant (in the Edgewater). The food is fine, if you don’t mind overpaying. It’s worth it if you enjoy a good sunset and you time it right. This is among the best views to be had in Seattle – the restaurant is literally on Elliott Bay. You coud say the Columbia Club or Chinese Room gives a better view, but sunset at the water’s edge is really special in my book. Of course, I’d rather go to Ray’s Boathouse on Shilshole – the prices are comparable, but the food and service in Ray’s dining room are infinitely better.

That reminds me – if you go to 67, it might be a good idea to pretend that you’re in a foreign country. That way, you won’t be surprised that they get the order wrong or that the dish that arrives doesn’t match what you thought was described.

The one caveat to this review is that I’ve only been here for lunch. (And only because it was someone else’s idea and I wasn’t going to pay.)

What I ate:

If it was warmer than bathwater when it arrived, I would have ranked it higher. There are a hundred better chowders to be had in Seattle (starting with Ivar’s).
