a breakfast burrito without egg?

Pollo’s is a small diner place near the BART station in Berkeley. It serves burritos, burgers, sandwiches, breakfast and gyros. It is quite a variety for a small restaurant. I found it disappointing that they didn’t take credit card, but that isn’t too big a deal.

Anyways, I’ve been here twice. The first time I got the gyro plate, and I thought it was quite tasty, with a good amount of meat over rice. It comes with a salad on the side, hummus, and some sauce that complements the gyro well. It is also pretty filling. The next time I came though, I decided to get the breakfast burrito. This was somewhat disappointing. The cashier guy asks if you want sour cream, cheese, and black beans, but he doesn’t tell you that they cost extra. Fortunately, I asked. Unfortunately, these are important ingredients in a burrito which should be included anyways. Cheese for a dollar! What a rip off in my opinion. I still ended up getting cheese and sour cream with my breakfast burrito, which had beef in it. What it didn’t have though, is egg. Or pretty much any breakfast food in there. They either got my order wrong, or they have a horrible idea of what a breakfast burrito should have. The burrito itself was decent sized and pretty good, but not what I wanted. Either way, I was left somewhat disappointed the second time around.

What I ate:
  • ****

A solid dish, and something you should consider ordering if you ever come here.

If you want the burrito to have normal stuff in it, be prepared to pay more than the listed price. Good burrito, but not in a breakfast aspect (aka it isn’t really a breakfast burrito).
