One of the best layouts of a restaurant I’ve seen in a long time. The bar is seperated nicely from the dining area and both were elegant. The service is amazing and the always changing menu keeps you coming back for more.

Nice place for a getaway brunch

When you step in to Erwin’s, prepare to be greeted with a vision of classic Americana – the place is decorated with nice white paneled walls, mirrored “windows” that add a sense of space, and tastefully trimmed with dark wood. Mimosas and Bloody Marys are the drinks of choice for the well dressed clientele.

The service was quick and pleasant, and overall the food tasted great and was a surprisingly good value for the quality and ambiance of the restaurant. This place is great for a classy brunch with friends or family.

What I ate:

These eggs my way came sunny-side up with the basil sausage. The sausage was firm, juicy and flavorful. The hashed potatoes were a good mix of crispy edges and soft innards.

This ain’t no from-the-tap Las Vegas bloody mary. It’s got great kick and flavor, with two fat olives to top it off.

fine Sunday brunching

when i first stepped into erwin’s, i was first taken aback at how nice of a brunch place this is. most brunch places i’ve eaten at are casual, trendy, or “homey”. at erwin’s you look around and you’ll feel like you’re looking at a page straight out of a fine dining magazine – clean, modern, rustic but upscale. as discussed at my table, definitely a place to bring the parents. (on a side note, there were a lot of families here.)

food didn’t disappoint either. the selection is on the minimal side, but are very decently priced (considering the setting) and delicious. drinks are offered also if you like a little kick w/your morning eggs. and surprisingly, an extensive dessert menu (possibly as many selections as breakfast items). i didn’t get to try any, but maybe next time…i will definitely be returning here again!

valet parking – $8

Fine dining with good prices

This restaurant has been on my to-try list for some time so I was excited that we got to check it out for brunch. We got there shortly after they opened at 10:30, so even though we didn’t have reservations, we were able to get a table. I’m not sure how necessary the reservations are, but the place wasn’t too huge so it might be better to do so if you want to ensure a table.

The restaurants decor is very all american. It’s got a homey, yet upscale kind of feeling. The kind of place where your napkin has a ring on it but it’s not too stuffy.

The food and service were both great. The portions were pretty good sized the brunch items come with what appears to be freshly made whole wheat bread. The food was filling, tasted great and felt healthy at the same time.

It’s the kind of place you’d be proud to bring guests and also just go to indulge in a nice meal yourself.

Parking can be tough in the area (since it’s in Lincoln Park), but if you go early you should be able to find something. They also have valet parking for $8.

What I ate:
  • ****

The boneless filet of trout was good, but the fish’s taste was overpowered by the sweet sauce. The freshly made semi-mashed potatoes were awesome and the scrambled eggs hit the spot.

  • ****

Good ole fashioned champagne and OJ. I think I still feel it :)

good breakfast

This is a nice place for a family breakfast; however, it doesn’t open until 10:30 on Sundays. I’ve forgotten this twice and ended up going elsewhere for an earlier meal.
