What you expect
Jeffrey’s opened a new location in Menlo Park which I went to check out. As has already been pointed out, it has a classic American diner look, but it actually seems a bit more modern and clean in subtle ways, which is nice.
Food options are exactly what you expect…burgers, salads, milkshakes, etc. The cheeseburger I had reminded me a less-greasy version of a Nation’s Burger (not sure if I think that makes it better or worse). The chili cheese fries are also solid, though I do wish that the chili was a bit more flavorful.
Not a bad place, but it’s not cheap for what it is. Personally, I still would prefer Fuddrucker’s (better variety and also excellent food), Taxi’s (a little cheaper and a little better, imo) or actually Nation’s (I’ve always had a weak spot for their greasy goodness). Of course, In N Out is excellent for their super-low price as well. Still, I can see coming back here on occasion, just to do something different once in a while.

All American Diner
Jeffrey’s definitely has an old fashioned diner feel…shiny red booths, hamburgers, and milkshakes! The menu’s pretty standard diner food: hamburgers, fries, sandwiches, and a couple salads. The kitchen is open and you can watch the cooks as you eat your lunch.
I’m not a huge fan of hamburgers in general, so this isn’t my favorite place….but the milkshakes (vanilla, strawberry, or chocolate) are really good. The last time I was there, two of us shared a milkshake and they gave us two full glasses each with whipped cream and a cherry on top. Yum!
-
Turkey melt
Choice of bread, turkey, and cheese all grilled into a nice hot sandwich. Comes with fries or a bag of Lay’s potato chips. Not bad, but I could probably make this myself.
-
Garlic Fries
Crispy hot fries topped with garlic. These were very good.
-
Milkshake
Choice of vanilla, chocolate, or strawberry. Delicious milkshake! Let them know if you’re sharing it and they’ll put it in two cups.
