Fantastic Omakase
This is a very reasonably priced omakase meal (i.e. a chef’s tasting menu comprised of about seven or so different dishes). Nice thing about having a meal this way is that it saves you the trouble of discerning which items on a menu will be to your liking, and at the same time it highlights the best dishes the chef has to offer. Note, you will be asked before hand if there are any fish aversions you may have. An observation that I’ve noticed and something to keep in mind is that the chef’s menu doesn’t seem to change. The lack of new dishes to this menu may be a hindrance to you should you plan a return visit. On a Friday night, I believe this menu will be your only option.
This place is popular. So if you can, you should make reservations ahead of time (one week should suffice). With regard to decor, I’d give it a “B”. Nothing special about the scenery. On a fun note, there is a sign that specifically makes the disclaimer that California Rolls are not served. Haha, already the sign of a quality sushi restaurant.
People mostly go here for the delicious, fresh-fish filled meals. In the various sashimi and nigiri dishes you will find sweet-tasting, buttery fish. Your taste buds will yearn for more and more as the fish melts in your mouth. An array of fish will arrive at your table, ranging from hamachi to saba to toro. This menu addresses the basic fish utilized in sushi and the price surely reflects that (about $50/head). I would expect to and have paid more for omakase menus where the fish were more exotic (I dropped $250/head for a meal at Heat in Chicago). So, if you’re gunning to try some new dishes or more luxurious fish, this isn’t the place to go (may I suggest Nobu in New York or Heat in Chicago?)
All in all, the reason I gave this restaurant such a high rating is beacuase it delivers basic but quality fish in thoughtful and well-prepared dishes. And, it does this all for a modest price.

Crab Hand Roll
Delectable! Fresh chunks of real crab proved to be an excellent way to finish a meal. In addition, the rice was perfectly seasoned to accompany the crab.
