good pad thai at this location

ocha is a small, local chain of thai restaurants, mostly in the wilshire center area of los angeles. the food varies widely depending on location and so far, this particular location seems best. it’s a no-frills everyday thai restaurant serving the mostly latino and korean neighborhood that surrounds it.

of the few thai places i’ve tried in the vicinity, this one makes the best pad thai. their curry dishes and soups are average to good (seems to vary depending on day). there’s no duck on the menu (which is both a relief and a disappointment since good duck dishes seem to be extremely rare at lower price points).

the restaurant is well-lit but dingy and filled with pleather chairs and booths. there are two (or three?) dining rooms, but not all are used every day. the parking lot is small and fills quickly during dinnertime.

you won’t be blown away by the food but it’s a good value for a quick sit-down meal or takeout (there’s no delivery).

What I ate:

no ketchup (yay!), not overly sweetened (yay!), but a bit oily. rice noodles seem lighter than other places, shrimp was tender and not overcooked, veggies seemed fresh, overall very yummy!
