fresh pasta but something amiss
located in brentwood, this unassuming casual-elegant italian restaurant has a very cozy, comfortable enclosed patio (in addition to inside dining) where you can enjoy your food and cali weather…it’s probably what i liked most about this place. the host and our server were italian (with accents) to complete the authenticity. and i suppose i shouldn’t have been too surprised by the prices given its in brentwood. as for the food, the pasta was fresh and tasted like it was made in-house (impressive!), but there was something not quite right about the flavors that left me ultimately disappointed.
i don’t know if i’d come back here given the high prices ($18-20 per dish) and odd or lack thereof flavors.

Lobster and Crab Ravioli
i don’t like pasta cooked to a soggy mush, and this ravioli was sadly not al dente enough, much too soft as if it’d been overcooked. the lobster and crab inside was awesome and plentiful, but with the weird tasting sauce and soggy pasta…it just wasn’t for me.

Risotto con funghi
my friend ordered this dish (i almost ordered it, but got enticed by the lobster and crab ravioli), so i got to try a spoonful, and it was way too salty for my tastebuds and also lacking in flavor. i was very sad as risotto is usually an automatic order when i see it offered on the menu.

Good pasta, but a bit pricey
Well, maybe it’s not pricey considering the neighborhood, but it’s a bit more than I’m used to paying for pasta. Nevertheless, the pasta was definitely a notch above anywhere else in texture and freshness.
There’s a nice patio for a number of outside tables and it’s semi blocked off so you don’t feel like you’re on the sidewalk like some other places. The service was pretty good and they serve you a variety of breads to snack on while waiting.

Lobster and Crab Ravioli
The ravioli was really soft and the crab/lobster flavor was pretty strong. Probably the best dish we had.
-
Risotto con funghi
A bit salty, but there was definite mushroom flavor.
-
Papardelle with wild boar
Good texture to the papardelle. There was a good amount of boar, but I could have used some other flavors – it was sort of boring for me.
