From the Restaurant
From humble beginnings on Northwest 23rd in Portland, Oregon, Chef Bo Kline and Typhoon! have become icons of the Northwest food scene. Blending classic Thai hospitality with contemporary style, Bo's unique menu is inspired by the pushcarts of the peasants and the palaces of her native Thailand. The perfect balance of bitter, sweet, salty and sour flavors will burst in your mouth as you savor her repertoire, which includes traditional favorites, rediscovered dishes lost in time and cutting-edge nouvelle Thai cuisine. Lauded by Bon Appetit as one of "the hottest chefs in America" and praised in rave reviews throughout the nation. Bo keeps the publicity in clear perspective. "The most important meal we serve is yours," she says. "Each night the entire staff knows the only review that counts is yours."

I love this restaurant.
Now, I’m a bit biased. We had our wedding reception at Typhoon! Not only that, I once sat three feet away from Wynton Marsalis as he was jamming with a group of musicians that had kind of spontaneously gathered for the evening. So the place has great memories for me.
That said, I also think this is one of my favorite restaurants in Seattle. It’s a bit on the spendy side, but my wife and I often like to go here for a special evening. The food never disappoints, the waiters are friendly and professional, and the atmosphere fits nicely between casual and formal, so it’s appropriate for anything from a romantic dinner to a fun evening with friends. In fact, we often take visiting family and friends here.
Lunches are very reasonably priced, so why not check it out during the day and see if you don’t want to come back for dinner?

Grilled Beef with Grapes **
This is one of my favorite dishes at Typhoon! Maybe anywhere. I’d never have thought to put grapes & grilled beef together, but it just works.

Royal Duck Curry
I always have this dish when I come here. It has large chuncks of duck and fruit in the it, such as pineapples and grapes, all mixed in with a great curry.

Mojito
Best Mojito in town
-
Coconut Martini
If you like coconut, then this might be a good drink for you.
Fine thai dining at Pike's Place
The entrance to Typhoon was easy to miss on Western, but the interior was a stunning constrast to the plain exterior. The dark color scheme and the vintage photos on the walls add to the warm atmosphere of the restaurant. The waitstaff was pleasant and attentive. I was disappointed that the dish I ordered was not as good as the environment of the restaurant itself.

Drunken Noodles
Nice and spicy, but too dry. The noodles clumped together too much.
