Bringing new meaning to culinary experimentation, Scoops ...

Bringing new meaning to culinary experimentation, Scoops is not for the vanilla/chocolate/strawberrry crowd. If Brown Bread, Earl Grey Ginger, Chocolate Wasabi, or Cheddar Pecan sounds like the dessert you’ve been searching for, then don’t miss this hidden LA gem. The prices are very reasonable and the flavors change daily. Be forewarned, they’re open from noon -10pm every day but Sunday, but once they’re out of their unique daily assortment of flavors, they close, which might be as early as 8pm on a hot summer day.

I came on a monday night at around 9pm and almost everything was gone. :(

I had a orangy chocolate ice cream which was just alright. Nothing mind blowing. Then I tried a sample of mascarpone ice cream (didn’t look like they had enough for a scoop). Man. I should have gotten this.

I’ll be sure to come back earlier in the day.

Scooper-delish; you'll want seconds

Wow, there’s some real passion and precision at play here behind the smooth stuff. Don’t miss the chance to scribble your flavor suggestions on the whiteboard by the video library—chips & salsa? wasabi ginger? V8 bloody mary? carrot/orange? pancakes & bacon? Anything with liquor in it seems to sell out quickly. They close once everything is sold out, which is often early. Basic scoop = two flavors…tastes better in a cone.

Best gelato/ice cream in Socal

I would rate this gelato at least as good as the best gelato place in Italy, if not better. The gelato here is homemade and very silky smooth. You won’t find any traditional ice cream flavors here – they also change on a regular basis. The flavors range from ginger to cheesecake. There are at least a handful of vegan flavors. There is a suggestion board for new flavors. The guy behind the counter (Tai), is very friendly and will let you try as many flavors as you want until you decide. For the price of $2 dollars, you can get 2 huge scoops…nothing in socal compares. There is also a large movie screen where DVDs can be played.
