Food ok, SLOW service

I ate here on July 4 2008. It was a convenient spot to listen to the music at the pavilion and I like Indian food. But it was a less than positive experience due to the extremely slow service. It took an hour to get any of our food and even then still had to ask for the bread we had ordered (and then it wasnt the kind we ordered but I wasnt going to get picky)! Waitress was busy but could have stopped by to ensure us that food was coming, perhaps brought us some complimentary bread to make the wait easier. Her explanation – after we flagged her down after nearly an hour – was that the food was slow cooked, which may have been true but usually Indian food is pre-cooked and served quickly in my experience. When we finally got the bill, it was for someone else’s food so we had to wait again!
The food was decent, but pretty much the quality I get at Indian lunch buffets. Samosas were good and my husband was happy that the Vindaloo was quite spicy. I also thought it was pricey for the quality and quantity. There are much better restaurants in Charlottesville (e.g., Maya).
