Doc Martin's Restaurant is an acclaimed fine dining establishment located in a registered historic landmark. A Taos tradition for locals and visitors alike, the warm ambiance of the main latilla room in Doc's has been a gathering place since the Taos Society of Artist's first met here in the 1920's and 30's. Headed by Executive Chef Gary “Zippy” White, our menu is a presentation of New American and Northern New Mexican cuisine, specializing in fresh organic foods from the Southwest. Known for its incredible value and extensive breadth of selections from old to new world, our wine list has earned Wine Spectator's "Best Of" Award of Excellence for twenty-one consecutive years. Pastry Chef Gayle Glanz creates sumptuous “beyond belief” desserts nightly that tantalize the senses and send our customers away with sweet memories.

Good ambiance, great service, brunch food disappointing.

After all the hubbub about how fabulous Doc Martins is, I was surprised that our first brunch there wasn’t fabulous. The Saturday morning ambiance was great (the soundtrack was a little odd, but I liked that), the service was great (even the busboy checked in on us periodically), but the food was mediocre.

My dining companion and I both ordered the breakfast omelet, which was spinach florentine on that day. The breakfast potatoes were overcooked and chewy, which even my partner noticed and he’s hardly the food snob I am. The yam biscuit was unevenly heated, cold in some spots warm in others, drawing attention to the fact it wasn’t fresh. And my spinach florentine omlette was sorely lacking in spinach. It had, literally, two leaves of spinach decorating the top and that was it.

The coffee was delicious, and like I said the service and ambiance were great. I am hoping that this was an anomaly, and that when we get around to going there again that the food is everything that people around here say it is.

I should also mention that the prices on the brunch menu were just fine, actually lower than I expected. They ranged from $8-12 or so.

A superstar dining experience in Taos!

Doc Martins is simply the best restaurant in Taos.

It has a 20 year Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence rating. This is incredible and the wine list deserves the honor. Great selection and pricing.

Foods are perfect for anyone wanting the best of Northern New Mexico. Game meats, fresh local produce, fish, southwestern specialties and amazing homemade desserts.

Eat here when in taos. The Restaurant is also associated with The Historic Taos Inn and visitors can catch complimentary live music shows and free WI-Fi access nightly.

Dishes I tried:

Buffalo Strip Steak

thumbs up!

We stopped by Doc’s at the Taos Inn for lunch while shopping on the plaza. It has been the best meal I’ve had in Taos. They recommended the Chile Rellenos appetizer and I was very pleased with it, and I also had a turkey, avacado and bacon sandwich. Great meal, good location and atmosphere
