dolce vita is a god-send in montrose. finally, a casual eatery with reasonable prices and great food perfect for dinner with friends. for starters, don’t skip the egg toast with truffles. a thick piece of white country bread topped with an egg, parmiggiano-reggiano, and truffle oil. broiled to perfection, then topped with shaved black truffle. a perfect truffle fix for $12. try the the speck (a smoked prosciutto), it is excellent. pastas are decent. i’d like to see more variety on their pasta menu.

the signature thin crust pizzas are what to come for — the taleggio pizza is topped with sliced pear, fresh arugula, taleggio, and truffle oil. very decadent. the robiola pizza is my second favorite topped with robiola cheese, pancetta, and leeks. pizzas are around $14-15 dollars and are more than enough food for one. the pork chop special last weekend was good. a bit overcooked but the mashed potatoes were chunky and delicious. however the salmon special (at $18), came to the table way overcooked and the piece of salmon was only 4 or 5 oz and served over a bed of rapini with grape tomatoes and calamari. the portion size was much too small, in my opinion.
