Dos Caminos Salads are not for wusses
Dos Caminos isn’t a typical Mexican restaurant that only has tacos and burritos on the menu. Instead, it’s a really nice upscale take on Mexican food. They have a station devoted to making fresh guacamole, and an outdoors area as well. It’s a great place to have brunch if you’re looking for a Mexican twist to American food and portions.
Dishes I tried:
Chicken Cobb Salad
This salad is comprised of grilled chicken breast, tomato, avocado, chorizo, grilled corn, onion and queso fresco, with a cilantro-basil vinaigrette. If you’re looking to fill yourself up with a salad, this’ll do the trick. All the ingredients work well together and they seem to use fresh produce to create such a salad. Two thumbs up for this delectable vibrant-looking bowl of greens.

Great flank or skirt steak and margaritas. You must get the table-side guacamole (extra spicy of course) with fresh warm chips. dont fill up on them though as the portions are pretty big. Nice to sit outside in the enclosed terrace.

dos caminos third ave.
I went for lunch with my mom and although or food was delicious the staff was on the slow side. The restaurant was not very crowded but our waiter would disappear. it was at least 15 minutes after we were seated that someone came to ask if we’d like something to drink, and then even longer for someone to take our order. After we asked for the check it took 20 minutes for our waiter to bring it to our table and another 10 for him to bring back our credit card! We noticed another table was having the same trouble trying to get some service!
Dishes I tried:
chicken enchiladas
2 enchiladas generously filled with juicy and flavorful chicken. one enchilada had a mole sauce and the other a tomatillo sauce. I preferred the mole although both were delicious.
shrimp quesadilla
not your average quesadilla. this is what my mom ordered and it was an open face quesadilla. the tortilla on the bottom was crispy, the shrimp was cooked perfectly and there was just the right amount of cheese on top.
guacamole
the guacamole was good but nothing to rave about. If you’ve had rosa mexicana’s guacamole this will do nothing for you. It also is not made table side which also gives rosa’s guacamole more appeal knowing it was made fresh right at your table!

High end mexican. Comparable to Rosa Mexicano, but more pretentious. Guacamole is almost as good too. The staff is a little on the snobby side despite the fact that they only serve dishes that you can probably cook up in your own kitchen. Yes, yes, upscale and trendy. But it ain’t all that now.
