I came here for restaurant week and had a great experience. The toro sushi was one of the best i’ve had, kobe beef was nice and tender, and the soft shell crab appetizer was delicious. Both me and my date had a enjoyable experience. The service was also great, they never let our glass of water go low.
Best first American meal in a while!
Loved the whole experience of descending into the dining area, the perfunctory hailing, and beautiful, slightly amazing ice sculpture to gaze at. The menu was perfect – so many choices. Japanese fusion dessert was still the unique reward of the night.

Food – It was ok. Mediocre at best. Did the 5-course Prix Fixe for $95. Salad, Hot Appetizer, Sushi, not impressive nor memorable. Sushi was not fresh. Entree (Steak flambed in Hennessy) was good but needed a side. Dessert was probably my favorite thing, banana cake. Portion was ok. Price, not so much.
Service – Attentive. Good table-side service. Friendly. but lacked explanation of dishes.
Atmosphere – the place is huge, uber trendy but quieter than one would think. But possibly because when we came, the weather was bad so there was barely anyone there.
All in all, the food didn’t live up to the hype but I’m glad I went cuz I got to try it.

the decor/ambiance is nice… portions are not that big, but what do u expect from a japanese restaurant. the one in tribeca is really nice. good for big groups / special occasions.
the waitors actually help you order, so if you look at the menu and don’t know what you want … your waitor will take care of you.

Hospitality runs high in this ultra chic Japanese restaurant where guests by are greeted [in Japanese] by the entire wait staff after being led through labyrinth of staircases and brought into main dining room, which lays is tucked away like a secret cavern behind a huge wall of an abstract Japanese flag. While the rumble of about 50 servers all yelling “Welcome” at the same moment sounds more like a rousing “YAY!”,it will without a doubt, simultaneously make you feel uplifted and aware of every new guest that enters the dining room during your meal. The food heavenly and every bite goes down like butter. Don’t miss the Crepe Cake for dessert and be sure to check out the lantern adorned bathrooms, where the smell of fresh eucalyptus is pumped though the vents. Be sure to bring your entire bank account to cover the bill or at least be willing to give up your first born…

There is another Megu near the UN. Anyway, I went to the one downtown. The atmosphere and the physical attractiveness of the ppl there was just incredible. The food was highly presentable. Sadly, the price was incredibly presentable too. Fortunately, I was not the one paying for that meal.
