Good bento, worth a return

This is an unassuming place tucked in a strip mall (surprise!) that probably deserves a little more visibility. It’s comfortable inside, with friendly service and a big menu of bento boxes, curries, noodles, and sushi. (The sushi menu looked pretty good, too; probably worth checking out.)

I got my takeout order quickly and was on my way in under ten minutes for a Saturday lunch.

The prior reviewer is right: They have a long list of bentos here, both “combos” (running about $9 apiece and including two choices of a big set of meats and a couple of sushi rolls) and single dishes (running about $6.50 to $8 or so; the single bento list excludes the sushi rolls on the combo lists). The bentos include a salad, miso, and the main dish.

I went for the chicken teriyaki bento (also available for another dollar in an all-white-meat version). For the price, you get a bunch of food. The miso was pretty mild, but had some nice strips of seaweed and tofu chunks in it, and it was nice and warm. I enjoyed the tangy dressing on the salad, and the teriyaki sauce for the chicken was pretty good. The chicken was a tiny bit tough, but this does come with the territory for dark meat. I would have liked just a bit more flavor to the chicken itself, beyond the teriyaki sauce — a little more to char on the grill, maybe?

Overall, it was a good takeout meal (and a pretty god bargain), and I’d visit again to try some more of the tasty-looking dishes on the menu.

Decent sushi for Redmond

This is a respectable sushi alternative if Kiku is busy. Be prepared to wait though since the lineups here can be lengthy also. I highly recommend any of the lunch bentos — good value and large-ish portions.
