waterfront dining
if you’re looking for a nice place to take your date for an intimate, romantic meal along the berkeley marina, skates is your place. it’s on the pricey side, but if you maximize your experience by 1) getting the window seat and 2) going at sunset, a meal at skates can be almost worth the cost. just be prepared to open your wallet to the fisheys.
the food itself is good, but occasionally hit/miss. some dishes i’ve had have been delicious and others either too salty/buttery.

Beautiful View Right on the Bay~
Though the meal was quite costly, I went at a time when they had the 3-course meal with appetizer, entree, and dessert all rolled into a big price of $29.99. I had the lobster/crab dip with bread, the steak, and burnt cream.
Everything is good, but not sure if it was worth the price. The steak was a little on the salty side, but it didn’t stop my date from dosing it w/ more salt and pepper.
I highly recommend the burnt cream..its like Creme Brulee, but i guess they wanted to be more creative.
Some think its a little overrated, but I think it was good. Though perhaps it was a little too hyped up.
ALSO, I went for an “anniversary” and they gave us free Key Lime Pie which was VERY good.
