Amazing Authentic The Hooters of the Yucatan

The fish here is red snapper for sure! The menu is hit your neighbors huge as well as all of the dishes. The platters of fresh fish are more than anyone could finish. The service can be slow and the place can be noisy. I have been going back every summer. A word of advice the $9.00 pitcher of margaritas will need an extra shot or two, and the must have item is the whole red snapper —deep fried…..tastes like chicken! This place is filled with families at all hours of the night. Get ready for some good mariscos!

Love the Red Snapper!

The whole red snapper is awesome here! The deep fried fish is giant and flavorful. I got it with garlic and grilled onions and I couldn’t have asked for more. I shared this with a friend and I was glad I did since it’s so big. I just wish the service was a little faster.

Awesome! Lots of flavor and I love the texture since it’s crispy on the outside and soft and flaky on the inside.

yummers

yum yum yum.

I went here on a Monday night and had a wonderful appetizer and some ceviche. Their margaritas are good and strong and the fish is fresh. Also, they serve wonderful spicy and mild moles with large round tortillas and they have cute little limes at the tables to serve all of your limey needs. The outdoor seating area is cute. Overall, it was a deliciously good time.

Next time, I’m going for the whole red snapper!

The moles they provide with the meal are wonderful. One is sweet / roasted and one is spicy. Both are delicious.

Dinner for two?

Nice place, easy parking for the area, sexy waitresses in tight outfits, and oh yeah, the food is real good. I guess i’m gonna have to try the whole snapper after reading other reviews but so far my fav. is the dinner for two. I ordered this with my friend who can eat more then me and we really shoulda stopped before we finished it, it was a huge platter of snapper, shrimp, squid, crab, octopus, and other meats. This absurd amount of food comes on a giant cutting boad with rice and beans cooked in what i’m guessing is lard. This is one hundred percent worth the heart attack you may incur after eating. In addition to large portions of great tasting food, they have a full bar, and tables have at least 10 diff. hot sauces to try along with the few homeade salsas they bring you with dinner.

What a lively atmosphere, HUGE portions and very “homemade” feel to the food.

I had the fish tacos which i was expecting to be made of some cheap fish, but was actually mahi mahi which is one of my faves. very generous heapings of fish and when accompanied with random veggies (a half potato, a whole carrot, tomatoes, etc) it made for a very colorful plate. Cost for the lunch portion was $8. Amazing!

Cannot wait to go back and try something new. I want to try the shrimp cocktail, which everyone seemed to be ordering.

5 stars.

Portions are huge, I always get the shrimp, but the whole red snapper is usually good. Yummy margaritas too! Great atmosphere for a fun time with friends. Have yet to try the platters made for two, overflowing with meats and seafood… anyone up for that?

Great seafood, cooked like you were in Mexico

This place was recomended by out Mexican friends. Authentic! We went to Frontera Grill for Lunch which was so so, but were blown away with this place. Hard to get in and we saw why. If you like fish, and want to try it Mexican style…

Very good for very little

First off, to address some of the negative comments. This is in a less than glitzy neighborhood. It may be billed as Wicker Park it may be billed as West Town - in any case it is a stretch of Ashland south of Division where few Lincoln…
