We were driving up from Wenatchee to Lake Chelan… a very cool Spring morning in April… and turned off the highway to get a cup of coffee.
Came around the corner.. and found The Entiat Valley Pastry and Coffed House… a coverted Chevron Station from prior years. Held on to my Cowboy hat to keep it from blowing away… and scurried in.
We stumbled onto one of the best surprises in a great vacation. Coffee was excellent… but wow is the word for the Scones.
Cherry Cream Cheese Scone… still cooling from the oven… had to wait a few minutes to cut it… Oh My God… it was wonderful.
Tiny little place with traffic coming and going… everybody friendly… everybody enjoying excellent pastries… it was a treat!
Sweet… sour… tangy… crumbly… warm… just remembering it makes my mouth water… If you are within 20 miles of this place… go find it. You will not be sorry!

05/18/2008that scone sounds so amazing. i’ll have to dig through my recipe collection to see if i can find anything that will imitate it, because that & a cup of coffee sounds like a perfect way to begin a morning.
