Best chinese food I've had here

I love this place so much that I went back again 2 days later. To me, you probably can’t find anything more authentic than this here in Seattle. The decor of the place looked like a typical restaurant you find in Asia. The restaurant is tucked away in the corner of Belgate Plaza and you wouldn’t have known there was arestuarant there from the main road. Yet, the place is packed on weekdays and you have to wait on weekends. Obviously showing the power of word-of-mouth. Btw, funny thing also is that so far I’ve only seen asians there so I guess that’s also a good indicator. I like the servings here too, it’s not american size, which adds to the authenticity. You would think that with such flavourful food there would be lots of MSG, but I didn’t feel thirsty after my meal or get the headaches that comes with MSG. My only gripe if I have to find one is that I wish they had a bigger menu so that I can eat more of their delicious food!

Dishes I tried:

Surprisingly good considering I don’t like yellow thick noodles. But it was tasty with a good balance of ingredients and noodles

This has lots of garlic in it and the cabbage retained its crispiness even after its cooked. Very light and refreshing.

This is another taiwanese night market staple. I hope I got the item name right but its eggs with the starchy thing. In taiwan they call it “Ou Lua” or “Ou Jian” I think.

I’m not too crazy about fried stuff but I think this is the type of fried chicken you find in taiwan night market.

This is definetely the dish that stole my heart. It is stir fried with taiwanese cabbage. The bursts of flavours do a Riverdance on your palate while you’re chewing. (haha can’t help being dramatic)

This is also another very flavourful dish. I think it’s quite easy to make though so I’m only giving it 3 stars.

awesome, hidden option for Taiwanese food

This restaurant is awesome! They’ve got some really tasty food and the nice thing is they have a lot of small dishes so you can order a whole bunch of different dishes to sample for a very very reasonable price. I only know of two or three other Taiwanese restaurant around Seattle/Bellevue and this is definetley at the top of my list. I really want to come back and try all the dishes – it reminds of a lot of the tasty dishes I had when I was in Taipei/Taichung last summer.

The restaurant is pretty small so I imagine it gets pretty crowded on weekends. I came here on a weekday.

Dishes I tried:

Great Taiwanese small plates

Facing East is a great new option for asian food on the Eastside. Not only do they serve a variety of asian food that’s different (a decent variant) from the standard Thai/Indian/Japanese/Chinese places, but the food is actually very tasty.

Facing East is located in a small strip mall right on the edge of downtown Bellevue – it’s easy to miss if you don’t look carefully. The decor is clean and simplistic, and they make good use of the fairly small space with efficient bench seating. Service was a bit inattentive at times but the places was crowded so it’s fairly understandable.

The best part about Facing East is the large variety of food – all the servings are small and there’s lots of different tastes on the menu, so the best way to experience this restaurant is to go with a larger group and share lots of small plates.

Some of the items on the menu are REALLY good, some are not so good. The restaurant is pretty small and theres frequently a line at the door during prime time. Service depends on which wait staff uou get and how busy it is. Ill give it a 3.5 stars

Henry's Bento(new Taiwanese eatery in ID) has better flavor!

I’ve been looking for good Taiwanese food since I’ve moved here from the East Coast, so I was eager to try this one. Menu seemed extensive but flavor was only eh. Definitely not enough to make another trip out to the Eastside. My mom also went with people she knew when she was visiting from NY and said the same thing. But we’ve just been to a new hole-in-the-wall Taiwanese eatery called Henry’s Bento in the international district. Their menu is more limited, but what they do it well. My mom tasted Henry’s Bento and said it was the best Taiwanese food she’s had in the US—and she lives near Flushing, NY!

Tucked away just north of downtown Bellevue, this cozy spot sports an elegant look. There’s a wide selection of dishes, which are authentic from what I’m told. We got free dessert at the end too.

Awesome food, and my friends from Taiwan say it tastes almost exactly like a Taipei street market. The service is snappy and it’s cheap, too! It’s a small restaurant though so it’s not good for parties of more than 4.
I like the 滷肉飯 (stewed pork over rice), the 刮包 (Taiwanese pork hamburger) and the 鹽酥蝦 (salt and pepper shrimp) the most.

food and parking

I really enjoy the food here. The service is not bad. The waiters can all speak both mandarin and cantonese aside from English… And they all remember me =D.
The portion size is small, which is good to have chance to try out more dishes. I know they were remodelling the restaurant the past 10 days. I hope it will be more comfortable inside. I don’t like the benches in the restaurant, not really comfortable.
The parking is not very convenient, it’s very tight and small.
This is a good restaurant for Bellevue, don’t have to drive to downtown for good food.

delicious chinese food; parking can be problematic tho!

i’m definitely going to go back too! i went with a friend and we shared a BUNCH of stuff, but the ones listed below were my favorites :) our total ended up being a bit higher bc we ordered a few experimental things that we ended up not really liking very much, but it was still good to experiment, since some of our choices ended up being really good too! (i guess that’s how it always is :))

anyways, we went during lunchtime on a weekday and parking was pretty tough to find, so if you work nearby, it might be worth just walking over.

Dishes I tried:

Sweet potato flour pancake w/fresh oyster, egg and veggies

i’ll admit that i’ve never eaten this at an actual taiwanese night market so i don’t have a good point of comparison, but i thought it was super delicious :)
