4.0they have these checkered tablecloths like everyone’s at a picnic. in reality you’re sitting inside a restaurant on randolph street surrounded by those faux old-time photos of italian-looking people.
but whatever; whoever giordano was, i’m pretty sure he wasn’t an interior decorator. giordano’s does pizza, and they do pizza well. their servings are huge, considering how much you pay. i ordered the small deep dish (about $13) which supposedly feeds 1-2 people. even after having a healthy appetite to begin with and not eating all day, i was destroyed after chowing down 2 out of the 6 slices. my sister was thrilled to see that i brought home leftovers.
our waiter, while brusque, didn’t give us the bum’s rush despite that fact that it was dinnertime and was very tolerant of our “let’s all just throw money and credit cards in the center of the table” method of payment.
my pizza was 5-star, but since my friends’ and my take-home bags got mixed up, i got stuck with her garlic pizza leftovers. the garlic bits on top were crunchy. what? in my lifetime, i’ve eaten more garlic than the smelliest man alive, and i’ve never had it crunchy.
more cheese than you can healthfully imagine and a very tender crust. the sauce isn’t my favorite, but i mean, it is derived from a vegetable, so what are you going to do?

4.0This was my first, and so far only venture into Chicago Deep Dish Pizza, and I’ve been craving it ever since. There is way more cheese than is reasonable, and I didn’t even notice the sauce, but none of that matters because the crust is fantastic.
We visited on a Saturday night during dinner hour and we were told the wait would be 90 minutes. The pizza takes 45 minutes to make, so they allow you to preorder your pizza while waiting for your table. We ended up waiting less than an hour for our table, and once we were seated it was only about 10 minutes until our dinner was served. My part was pleased at how efficient service was in such a busy atmosphere.
I have a fairly large appetite, and I was able to eat 1.5 slices of the small cheese pizza, I’m not quite sure how this is a 2 person dish – I would call it a 6 person dish as there are 6 slices. Leftovers would be fantastic if I lived in the area, but don’t work for a out of town visitor.
They do offer to ship their pizza overnight, the prices are comparable to the cost in the restaurant, but the overnight shipping fee is quite a bit.
As I’m not from the area, it would be fantastic if anyone wants to recomend some other pizza place to try next time I’m in town.
