| Summary: The SceneWith a stylish, modern dining room and a trendy bar/nightclub area, Golden Temple stands out among typical Chinese restaurants. The setup of the restaurant caters to all types: couples, large parties, and party goers. The extensive menu appeals to a range of tastes, and the powerful and exotic drinks keep the party going in the discotheque-style E Room. Whether serving dinner or drinks, waitstaff is always respectful and accommodating, willing to alter dishes by request. The FoodGolden Temple is consistently placed among the best Chinese restaurants in town. While prices are on the high side (for Chinese), the portion sizes of most menu items--from the traditional General Gau's chicken or beef and broccoli to to deep-fried chicken livers and ginger-garlic littleneck clams--are well worth the cost. Flavors and sauces are light and subtle thanks to a focus on fresh and healthy ingredients.HitsOutstanding service, exceptional choice and a focus on freshness keep the Golden Temple experience at or near the top of the city's "best of" lists for Chinese.MissesWhile half of the dining space is separated from the E Room, the sounds spilling from the dance floor the DJ's turntables may be a bit loud for some. | ||

Worst Service Ever
New Years Eve I place an order for delivery for two people at 6 pm. I was quoted an arrival time of 8 pm. At 8:15, I call to check on the status of my order and was told that it would now arrive at 8:45. I called a second time to double check on my food and was treated very rudely by the hostess and management staff and was told that they had my order but my food had never been made! The Assistant General Manager said that because they were busy that my food would have to go to the end of the list of deliveries and wouldn’t be sent until 9:45 pm. I told him that I was extremely unhappy and didn’t think I should pay for my dinner (coming two hours late). He claimed that they did not have the correct phone number to confirm my order. And thus it was my fault that the food didn’t get made. Now which is more likely? That I don’t know my own phone number, or that their staff wrote it down wrong? This ruined our night.

Fantastic fine dining Chinese restaurant off Beacon stree...
Fantastic fine dining Chinese restaurant off Beacon street in Brookline. Prices are fair and run between $7.00 to $60.00. Gourmet Chinese food is top of the line and cooked healthily with generous portions to boot. Spotless restaurant has a nice design with two dining rooms with one hopping bar. Parking is so so since it’s in Brookline but they offer valet parking. Great for big family events or intimate romantic settings. Be warned though, get a reservation when you can for Friday or Saturday night since they fill up quickly. But for those who love Chinese food, you won’t be disappointed. Service is incredibly prompt and terrific with both the cooks and the wait staff, who are very attentive to customers.

Perfect pricey Chinese for the parents
I love suggesting Golden Temple as a meet-up for when my parents come into town. While the food is delicious, I definitely wouldn't be able to afford it on my own. The service stands typical to the Asian stereotype... not exactly the best, but hey...

Solid chinese restaurant, bit over-priced
I've been to Golden Temple half a dozen times over the past two years. I go because I can't find another option in the Newton/Brighton/Brookline area. I've tried several dishes and they're all pretty good, but a few dollars over-priced per menu i...
