On a very recent Sunday, I visited the Grand Concourse with a large group for the Brunch. I’d been there in the past, but only in celebration of a Holiday. To my surprise, it was packed—for the middle of July to boot!
The selection of items is really amazing. There are various stations located all around this amazingly beautiful building (which was at one time a train station). The omelet station was by far the most popular, and the long line moved quickly. The other “hot spot” that was a hit with everyone wast the “donut machine” located on the bar in the Gandy Dancer. The donuts were made piping hot, and you were then able to dust in cinnamon or powder sugar—yum! (Look out Krispy Kreme, this is as much fun on a teeny tiny scale!)
The food was wonderful—I can’t imagine there was anyone wanting for anything, as the choices were limitless. In addition, I was extrememly satisfied with the service. Our large group was handled courteously and quickly. They were a big help to me during set up and were more than accomodating.
The price of the meal was $23.95, not including gratiuity. Might seem steep, but I think the quality and quantity of the food justify the price, as does the service.
One thing to note: I’d made the reservation in advance, and had to call to increase the size of our party—I waited to do this the day prior so I would have an accurate count. I was alarmed when the could not locate my reservation, and then the person assisting me realized it had been placed on the following week! I momentarily panicked, but was then assured that our party of 22 could be taken with no issues! Yeah!!
