Granny’s Closet used to be a great place to get a decent priced meal with a nice atmosphere. Ever since the new ownership (I think in 2007) it has gone downhill. I went a few weeks ago with my parents visiting from out of town. We were sat in the “formal dining” room and with a sloppy waiter we placed our drink orders and an appetizer sampler. We eventually got our drinks about 10 minutes later since the waiter was busy standing around watching the big screen tv. 2 of our 5 drinks were wrong. Then about 45 minutes later we had to flag down another waiter since ours was nowhere in sight we asked they could get our waiter. When he arrived we asked about the appetizer, he said the kitchen was backed up (honestly there were 5 other tables of people in the dining room). He went to “check on it” and came back out and said that it would be another 15 minutes for it, but our food was about to come out, he said, “Do you even want it now?” We said no since the food was coming out. We got our food on plastic plates and it all tasted worse than cafeteria food and looked like it too. Two of our burgers weren’t made to our oder including being raw for a burger we asked to be well done. We didn’t get one apology from our waiter and if there had been a manager around we would’ve complained. It’s now overpriced and bad food and to top it all off bad customer service. From being a place I’d stop at when guests are in town it’s not even a place I’d recommend to people.

Live music, quirky building, but the food here is not good. We went to see a friend play violin there and he warned us not to get any food. We thought perhaps the wings would be safe, but they were not good. I think we also got some kind of dessert, and it was not restaurant quality.

We went to Flagstaff this past weekend and on Friday August 01, 2008 decided to go to dinner at Granny’s Closet…OHOHOH what a mistake that was. We were seated in the dining room at a table without silverware. Our waiter came and we placed an order for three eggplant parmesian with water and lemon to drink. The waiter said he would return with lemon in just a minute. Wrong, the next time we saw the waiter was after they brought us the wrong order Chicken Parmesian 45 minutes later and for silverware a steak knife on the side of a cold plate. What poor service and a very disappointing example of a restaurant.
