3.0i’m not a big fan of greek food, but i really like the atmosphere here. they do a good job of making you feel like you’re on a greek island w/all the white-washed walls and ocean blue trim. the service is friendly, and the food (amazingly) always seems to come out so quickly. greek islands is an ideal place for large parties (loud ambience), but also works for couples looking for a casual meal out.
square-shaped, oily cheese that’s put on fire at your table. it’s salty, cheesy, and delicious! don’t miss out on this popular appetizer.
3.5 stars. feta cheese + lots of spinach all wrapped in a thin doughy pastry. it’s got a tangy taste that goes well w/feta cheese chunks and the doughy pastry.

3.0Greek Islands is a nice restaurant to grab some Greek food. They offer a good variety of food, and have lots of tasty sounding meats. The service was alright and the atmosphere was unassuming, yet nice. The food wasn’t too shabby either. I ordered the combination plate in order to try the greatest variety of food while at a legitimate Greek restaurant. It came with a little bit of all the standard stuff. There wasn’t much of each dish, though it filled me up enough I guess. I am not totally sure what great Greek food taste like, but I did find the food here good. It’s probably around 3.5 stars to me, but I’m going to round down in this case because nothing truly wowed me. Besides the flame theatrics from the cheese. Worth checking out though.
It came with dolmades, lamb, mousaka, a meatball, and some rice. I think it came with a couple other things, but I can’t remember them. The lamb was OK, but I liked the meatball and mousaka a lot. The dolmades was sweet and solid too.
I am going to have to agree and say that this dish was very good. It had loads of flavor and went very well with the bread. Nice and oily, and the huge flame at the beginning is sweet. Definitely one of the highlights of the meal. It might be too salty for some.

4.0Greek Islands is a nice, well decorated restaurant in the middle of Greektown in Chicago. It has numerous decorations and an amusing town-ish design. The layout was definitely different, as we were seated up two mini flights of stairs. Anyways, the service was about on par of what i expect from a restaurant. On to the food..
I don’t often eat Greek food, with the exception of gyros, so i took this opportunity to order something different. I got the Moussaka, which is like a better version of Italian lasagna. It seemed meatier and stuffed with more stuff than a lasagna. I enjoyed it a lot, but it was not completely filling. The saganaki was quite delicious (a little salty, but thats intended) and makes a very spectacular, flaming entrance. I felt the dolmades (which i stole from my brother’s combo plate) tasted too tangy and kind of weird. Overall, the place wasn’t bad, but if i returned to Greektown I would want to try the numerous other places around it so that I could get a feel for what is really good or bad.
I don’t normally enjoy cheese alone, but this was very good.
