$13.95 sushi buffet!

if you’re looking to scarf down massive amounts of sushi (albeit, mostly cooked items are included in the buffet, and far less “raw fish” rolls), then house of sushi is not a bad place to be. i came here for an early dinner, and it was already packed! the restaurant is a very casual, no frills place in an odd “L” shape, with narrow halls.

we didn’t order any of the a la carte items, but went straight for the $13.95 buffet. if you come with a big appetite, it’s quite the deal. granted, the sushi is mediocre at best (remember it’s quantity, not quality here), although i did find the tempura/eel rolls to be quite good. you order 2 rolls at a time, and your server brings them to you. the rolls come out suprisingly quick and they are plump & action-packed.

Dishes I tried:

Salmon Avocado Maki

a buffet that worth your money

Although you can order individual sushi or other dishes seperately, I have only tried the buffet style here. The sushi buffet is priced reasonably at $12.95 and it comes with (one time only)miso soup & veggie tempera at the beginning.
The sushi rolls are well made and the contents are packed as promised from the menu. I especially like the Sunshine Maki and any other maki w/ eel inside. Each time, I left the restaurant with a happy and overstretched stomache.
The restaurant itself is pretty small and has an elongated shape. The walls are packed w/ pics of the customers. However, we were never asked to have our pics taken. I have only been here on the weekend so if you don’t want to wait in line, I would recommend coming here at 4pm on Sunday (right when it opens). Sat., the restaurnat opens longer so the wait wasn’t as bad. Anyway, just make sure you come with an empty stomache.

What’s special about this maki is that it has tangerine in there with shrimp tempura and some other veggie. I just love its combination.

Great place if you want a ton of cheap sushi....

Great place if you want a ton of cheap sushi. Very creative roll selection. Almost all the waitresses are students from Thailand, and they’re very nice. This place is packed with students on weekend evenings.

$15.95 buffet & horrible service from waitress

We had a horrible, zero personality server that ruined my night out with my kid. She lied about her name when I asked her what it was. She had an attitude that fits an old bitter social worker not a server at a restaurant. When wiping the table down next to me she sent rice flying onto my leather shoes without notice. I would avoid her at all cost. I can’t say the food rocks either as I am a raw fish addict, but it wasn’t horrible compared to other places I have visited. The atmosphere is great but not good for kids. I had to rip my kid’s food apart so he could eat it with his chop sticks as they didn’t have knives. The kind of service we received is unacceptable. If it wasn’t for Ann and another gal there that were supper cool and nice, I would have left without paying. This is a very tough economy and for the price the experience was horrible. I will not be returning, ever!

This restaurant is really good for a sushi...

This restaurant is really good for a sushi buffet! The quality of the sushi is surprisingly good! The sushi in the buffet are all maki mono, so no nigiri or sashimi (at least i haven’t seen them). Anyway, even though the sushi isn’t really authentic (i mean, it’s not traditionally Japanese), it’s pretty darn awesome. Can’t beat 12 bucks per person for all you can eat sushi! My only qualm is that I wish they had other Japanese food on their buffet menu, such as tempura or other Japanese staples…
