I was lucky enough to hit up Indio once before they closed. I was surprised and sad when they did. Indio was different, interesting and fun. Something that Uptown is starting to need with the influx of Asian fusion restaurants.

The manager of Indio was an ex-bartender from Tum Rup next door so we knew him from there. He gave our party extra special treatment, which he didn’t have to do, but it was my parent’s anniversary so it was great.

My boyfriend and I shared the snapper which was whole, bones, eyes and all (which I love). It was dressed with a tomato based sauce and grilled scallions. The presentation was beautiful and the fish was tender and favorful.

It was sad to see Indio go, but luckily Cafe Ena and El Meson (the sister restaurants to Indio) are still around, hopefully to stay. I urge you to take a trip to either restaurant for a delicious Latin fusion food experience.
