Beyond disapointed is what I was about the brief incarnation of Just Desserts in Delaware City.

While working in Delaware City for a brief period, I would frequent Just Desserts Cafe’. I’m still in shock over just how bad a place could be. Her food was over priced, and the portions were small. Rarely were there any desserts. I mean come on if you are going to put desserts in your name and brag about being an award winner, isn’t it safe to assume there should be a dessert or two available?

I had the chicken and dumplings, excuse me the dumpling soup! The meal consisted of a bowl of dumplings (which in fairness were quite good, apparently her server made them) a few vegetables sliced up and a clear soup broth. Oh yes, 2, yes 2 whole bites of chicken. So for $8, I had a bowl of dumpling soup.

On another occassion, I had the jambayla. Now that was good, it was full of sausage, and a few other things one would expect in that dish. It was nicely spicey. The one disapointment was the shrimp, it would have been better if they had just been left out, because the shrimp used were the tiny freeze dried brine shrimp. All in all, it was a good dish, and if she had ever made it again, I would have ordered it.

The soups on the menu were not homemade, they were obviously canned.

On top of it all, any questions about the lack of food on the menu, were answered with insults about the town’s residents. Her disgust for her location really made it an uninviting place.
