I personally love Khan’s, every once in awhile that is. One has to realize, it is what it is. First of all, it’s a buffet, there’s no way around it. If you see a line of people loading up their plates (or bowls in this case) and you can find the words “all you can eat” somewhere in the place, you’re at a buffet. There is nothing wrong with this of course, but like any other buffet it’s usually more quantity than quality.
I think that Khan’s does a decent job supplying its customers with fresh veg for their stir-fry. The meat and seafood is generally in frozen pieces which is okay because it doesn’t get warm while it sits out, but then again it’s been frozen. When I visit I tend to ignore the meat anyways and go food the noodles. Nothing like a good noodle belly to make you feel like death for the remainder of the day.
I’ve read some other posts of different blogs about how Khan’s is bad. Well…you do most of it yourself, so if your dish is under seasoned the guys grilling it really have no control over that. Also, there has been some confusion about the ‘bread’ you getting at the end during dinner time. It’s a steamed bun (these I love!) filled with sugar and sesame seeds. Weird maybe, but delicious!
Wouldn’t recommend the tea there. It’s very weak and over priced for what you get. Otherwise, just remember – buffet, buffet, buffet and enjoy gorging yourself a little. Also, If you’re in Iowa try their equivalent HuHot. I actually enjoy HuHot a lot. They always have an interesting selection of fish and seafood, not just calamari and imitation crab like at Khan’s. Khan’s, you fill the little greasy noodle hole in my heart.
