1.0Went to Kit Kat Lounge a couple of months ago in November. All I have to say is “WOW” I can’t believe that place is still open with the manager that’s running the place.
Back in November I was invited to a birthday party at Kit Kat Lounge. I arrived with three other friends & we were brought to one of the tables in the back where our birthday friend & her friends were seated. We sat down & settled in; the waiter of our table (Christopher) approached us & asked us what we wanted to drink. My three friends made their orders & I said that I did not feel like having a drink. The waiter told me that I had to order a drink because our birthday friend had reserved one of the tables in the lounge ; being that she reserved a table it is there requirement that everyone order an alcoholic drink. I asked the waiter, “what if I don’t feel like drinking today?” And he just shrugged his shoulders & said he would talk to the manager. He came back & told me the manager required that I order an alcoholic beverage otherwise I would be asked to leave. Being that I wanted to be there for my friend for her birthday, I said fine. I looked through the drink menu & decided to order a Hawaiian screwdriver with rum. I placed my order & then received my drink; to my dismay, the drink tasted like Koolaid, you couldn’t taste any of the rum in it; being that I’m a small girl and not a big drinker, all I need is one drink to feel the effects- after drinking the Hawaiian screwdriver I did not feel a thing.
Eventually the entertainment started. A beautiful transvestite came down the aisle, dancing to the music. Women went up to the transvestite to put some money in his waistband. One of my birthday friend’s best friends went up to the the transvestite to dance & the transvestite grabbed her breasts and started squeezing them.
Sure enough the night was coming to an end and my birthday friend was ready to leave the Kit Kat Lounge. Before our check arrived, the three friends that I arrived with & I asked our waiter Christopher, if we could get separate checks, he said he was not allowed to give separate checks; even though he had just given separate checks to the other people in our group.
Our check arrived & looking over the check I saw that they added on an 18% gratuity. Being that I was not happy with the service-having felt forced to order a drink at their lounge, I did not feel like they deserved the 18% gratuity, so I paid for the drinks & did not give the 18% gratuity.
My three friends & I stated to leave and got out the door to have the waiter and manger come racing out behind us to tell us we did not pay our whole bill. I told the manager that we paid our bill but I was not happy with the service so I did not feel like he deserved the 18% gratuity. The manager told me it doesn’t matter because my birthday friend reserved a table in their lounge and had a certain number of people, so that meant I had to pay the gratuity. I said, “I understand, but I was not happy with the service.” He said, “Nobody is ever unhappy with the service here, you have to pay the gratuity or I’m going to call the police on you.” I said, “you’ve never had anybody unhappy with your service here?” He shouted, “No! Pay your bill & don’t come back!” I said, “I don’t plan on coming back, but I still feel like it’s not right to get bad service and have to pay the full gratuity.” He said, “I’m going to call the police!” Being that I don’t know the legality of gratuity laws here in Illinois, I was not looking for trouble but I also felt very cheated having paid for the extra gratuity because I didn’t know if it was illegal to not pay it.
All I have to say is, to the manager of Kit Kat Lounge, I’m putting it out into the world: I wish to you the behavior you give to others. Let people in the world treat you the way you treat others. Let it come back to you full circle.

4.0Great food and amazing martinis. This isn’t your average bar food, let alone your average bar. Drag queens dance every 20-30 minutes for one song and is quite entertaining. The food is well prepared, tastes great and not too pricy. The martinis will knock you out. With flavors from birthday cake to samoa (yeah the girl scout cookie) you’ll bill will be higher than you think in a short amount of time.
