Many years ago, on my first visit to Montreal it was La Belle Province that I decided to stop at for a bowl of poutine (french fries with cheddar cheese curds covered in gravy)
That kind of started a tradition, and every time I go to the city, I make a point of stopping for a bowl of poutine and a couple of hot dogs (they are a big deal in Montreal, they are steamed and served with mustard, relish, onions and coleslaw)

I have since figured out that they are far from the best poutine in the city, in fact they are almost like the McDonald’s of poutine lol, but they are right downtown, and open late.
Another plus is, they seem to put more cheese on their poutine than any other place.
