It’s partly my own fault, for ordering the filet medium rare. It wasn’t chewy, per se, but it didn’t have that buttery melt I was expecting. The outside had that perfect charred crisp layer though.

Waitress was very awesome (comp’ed our biscuits! But we also went through a bottle of Macallan 12). Gave us excellent suggestions on sides and appetizers and promptly refilled water, wine, and took away done dishes.

It’s probably true of most upscale steak houses, and Lark Creek is no exception, that it has a bit of a old boys business club feel (see Frank Bruni’s review of the steak at the Penthouse Executive Club). It’s not the best place for a first date — unless you’re the girl trying to impress a carnivore guy, I suppose.

Drinks — I had the Skyy sunrise or something or other. Way too sweet. No alcohol drink should taste like Kool-aid.
