Lousy service came with a forced **25%** gratuity!

My husband and I tried Liu Liu’s in Baxter Village last night, with his parents. The four of us ordered steamed dumplings and four entrees. My husband had a coupon to get one entree free with the purchase of another entree of greater value, so we used that coupon last night.

We arrived just after 5. Our dumplings were good, but the entrees weren’t anything special. After we received our dinner, service began to slow down considerably, even though the restaurant was nearly empty. We were sat in the farthest corner on the left as you come into the restaurant, and no one ventured far enough back to check on us.

As a result, we had to flag someone down to get the check. We put down two credit cards and our coupon, to split the check evenly. After waiting for them to get our cards for well over 10 minutes we had to flag them down again. The woman took our cards to process them. She came back a short while later, dropped off our slips and left quickly.

We soon found out why: she had handwritten out the tip and totals on the credit card slips! She had written in a 25% gratuity on each slip and totaled it up, leaving it for us to sign, and left without any explanation. This was outrageous. Nowhere on the menu or anywhere else did we see that having a party of 4, splitting a bill across 2 credit cards, or using a coupon would result in us being forced to leave a 25% gratuity!

The service didn’t warrant a 25% gratuity and we found this behavior extremely unprofessional. We will not visit this restaurant again and I would warn others away too unless you want to be hit with a forced 25% gratuity on your credit card slip!

Best Asian Bistro

I have always found Liu Liu’s food to be outstanding, especially since the change in ownership/management this past year. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, the food is filled with fresh veggies, and I love their 7 grain rice. They also have a very nice bar. It’s the whole package, business and pleasure.

I’m a realtor. When I have a client who is new to the area I always take them here. As silly as it sounds it often is a deal closer for the area. People eat here and think okay, good asian food, I can live here.

My kids also love Liu Liu’s for it’s great kid friendly finger food and wonton soup. Try the chicken teriyaki on a stick. My kids love that and it is unique.

Dishes I tried:

Very light not too salty. Hits the spot on a rainy day.

OMG. These are my favoite eggrolls in the area. I’m not sure but I would not be surprise if they were made in house. Ask for extra duck sauce and house mustard.

My kids love this. It is their favorite thing on the menu. Tender white meat chiken speared and dredged through a light breading, probably cornstarch and a rice flour and deep fried. Served with dumpling sauce.

This is my favorite thing on the menu. It’s basically a Lo Mein. The chef does not pore on the soy sauce or oil. The vegies still have their crunch and the noodles are light.

This is my husbands favorite dish. He asks for it with white meat only, which they do happily. I’ve tasted it. It has a nice rich sauce with lots of dried peppers. Moderately spicy.

Great Service & Food

I’ve eaten at Liu Liu’s several times since their recent change in ownership and have always received great service and great food. The staff is always very attentive and courteous…highly recommend it.
