4.0Lula is a cozy little cafe tucked into a cozy little corner of Logan Square. The ambience is eclectic bistro. The waitstaff is friendly and the atmosphere is unrushed. The food is inventive, flavorful and seasonal at extremely reasonable prices especially when considering the quality. However, Lula is no longer a ‘hidden gem’ so expect to wait awhile if arriving during peak dining hours. There is a bar for pre-dinner drinks if you find yourself waiting for friends…or a table. Monday nights are ‘Farm Dinner’ nights. A fixed menu at $25 with seasonal dishes. Lula also serves brunch-check it out! Overall, Lula will delight your senses and make you feel like you’ve found a comfortable little corner of the city.
Chicken again? You’ll be suprised at how juicy and tasty this chicken is. I’m not a chicken fan, but this is a no brianer if you can’t decide among the other menu items. This is also a standard item not seasonal.
Just tried the strada this weekend and I could not believe how good it was. Served with a mixed greens salad (light on the vinagrette-perfect!) and a side of fuit. The strada was incredibly savory-I ate slower just so I could enjoy it a bit longer!
The seasonal menu always has inventive items using local ingredients. The combinations are almost always fantastic so don’t be afraid to try something new! And don’t forget dessert.

5.0Very charming, fun place tucked away in Logan Square. Easy to miss but the eclectic mix of people it attracts seem to hear about it by word of mouth. That’s how I heard about Lula’s. Upon entering, there is a bar that you can sit at – just grab an empty bar stool – unless of course, you prefer a table or require a table to accommodate a bigger group.
Brunch menu is excellent (come for brunch if you’re thinking about checking it out)! Every weekend, the brunch specials change with good variety. Today’s special ranged anywhere from French toast to roast duck omelet.
There is a small area of metered parking right outside the café. If you’re heading north from Fullerton Avenue, be sure to take Kedzie Blvd instead of Kedzie Avenue (the two are parallel from each other). Kedzie Blvd is the smaller street that leads to the parking spaces.
Filled with sweet ricotta cheese and topped with apple and pecans, this is a mildly sweet but light feeling dish because of the fluffy French toast. Not too sweet or rich as may be expected. Fluff heaven! Mmm…
*The brioche I had was on the “Brunch Specials.” There is a standard brioche on the main brunch menu, but I don’t think it has the ricotta cheese filling…
Gigantic burrito abundant with scrambled eggs, potato, avocado (bordering on guacamole), tomato with hot sauce and sour cream on the side. Delicious and filling without the “greasy” feeling of a burrito. Fabulous!

5.0Lula Cafe is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. The food here is well prepared, and is usually full of in-season goodies. I’d probably be willing to eat almost every item on their menu. It’s pretty busy for dinner on the weekends, so be prepared to wait. I love to come here in the summertime to take advantage of desserts chocked full of fresh peaches! I’ve always wanted to try the Monday Night Farm dinner, I’m sure it’s spectacular, just like everything else here!
Who would have guessed that a “spicy peanut butter” sandwich topped with veggies could taste so good? The peanut butter concoction is a blend of peanut butter, some spicy thai sauce, and other mysteries. Topped with cucumber, sprouts, lettuce, onion.
Yummy pasta in a variation like you would never expect. Tube pasta in a browned butter, garlic, and cinnamon sauce.
I like to order this as an appetizer to share with the table. Full of great peanut flavor!
Really good breakfast option. You get a choice of two toppings from a list of several. Excellent size and very good.
I think they change the french toast up with the changing in available fruit produce, but it’s excellent any way you “slice” it. Huge portion and the best stuffed french toast EVER!

5.0I really enjoyed this restaurant, and it is one of my best friend’s favorite places in the city. While the wait was long (about 45 min.), we sipped on hot cider (with jamaican rum) while we waited. We ordered the shiitake quesadillas as an appetizer (filled with queso fresco, spinach, and shiitake mushrooms with sour cream and salsa on the side). I had the “fettucine alfredo”, a twist on a favorite. Pasta with pumpkin egg cream, braised duck, brown sugar bread crumbs, pecorino, and something green and crunchy (cabbage?). I was a little disappointed by the lack of duck (one of the main reasons I ordered it), but it was delicious none the less! I about died when I was too full to try desert…maybe next time!

10/05/2006Great review, I’ll have to check it out. It’s so hard to find tasty and juicy restaurant chicken.
