Sometimes it’s not just the actual quality of the dinning experience that matters, it’s how it stacks up against your expectations. One shouldn’t expect the world when going to an Earls, but at a Lumiere calibre restaurant it should be very high.
As with other “celebrity chef” restaurants, I often feel let down. For one thing, that celebrity chef is often too busy with his celebrity life to be cooking for you in the kitchen. More importantly, is a great meal costing hundreds of dollars per person ever all that much more satisfying as your favorite $20 meal?
Don’t get me wrong, I think Lumiere serves good stuff. I do recommend it for special occasions, or everyday if money is no object to you.
