It is easy to see why the Lunch Basket is a lunchtime favorite of the medical office staff near the Kennestone Hospital campus.
This very quaint shop is not known for its spaciousness or art nouveau decor, yet, for it’s excellent food that is exceptionally priced and, better yet, consistent. The shop has been around for years. Still located in an old apartment building, the entire place is the size of a 1950’s 1 bedroom apartment. There is usually a line winding and weaving it’s way around the small first room. So, if youre in a hurry, call it in and they will have it ready to pick up.
Sanwiches are a good size and, if you want it “all the way”, that includes lettuce, tomato, cucumber slices, and onions. Cheese is an extra $0.40, but the Havarti is well worth it. They have soups which change daily and sides like carrot salad, potato salad, and pasta salad. For dessert, there is a decent selection of cakes and pies. Or, you can opt for (my favorite) a brownie.
Typically, you can get out of there for less than $6.00 including a drink. No credit cards though!! She only accepts cash or checks.
