4.0As a meat lover, I’m usually skeptical about these vegetarian places. The only place that I can testify to is Karyn’s Cooked (see my previous review). At the suggestion of another non-vegetarian friend, we headed to Mana Food Bar. On a summer eve, they arrange an outdoor patio area. Unfortunately for us, all outdoor tables were already taken. Still, the cute, cozy cafe/bar style restaurant was welcoming and just as fun indoors.
For a party of 4, we decided to try various items almost tapas style (taste portions only). We tried all the “small” size items and as all the portions sounded just right for 4 people, it worked out well. For example, the spinach ravioli and sweet potato pancakes “small” portion has 4 pieces each – perfect for our group.
Overall, I was extremely pleased with our order. I would say, however, if you want a super filling but less pricey meal, try another place. Or pre-eat a little something.
Great cold salad dish to start off the meal. Thin slices of the “harder” tofu with a very light, fresh mixture of veggies – cucumber, cherry tomatoes, basil.
4 raviolis filled with spinach, with fantastic tomato sauce. Hot, yummy, goodness.
Probably my favorite. This reminded me alot of the goat cheese at Cafe Iberico. I think baked goat cheese in general is just fabulous. Comes with toasts on which to spread the cheese.
How can you go wrong with sweet potatoes? Really. Had small tidbits of pear chutney.
Sauteed mushrooms over creamy polenta. I’ve never had polenta and this set the bar high.
